The Old Bar, Cartmel
Set in the heart of Cartmel within the Lake District National Park, The Old Bar presented a unique renovation opportunity—one that required sensitivity to both its heritage and its natural surroundings. Our client wanted a space that honoured the building’s past while feeling light, welcoming, and contemporary.
We approached the project with care, using a soft, neutral colour palette to bring calm and warmth to the interiors. Where possible, original features were preserved and reworked to anchor the design in the building’s history. The result is a home that feels both characterful and refreshed—rooted in tradition, yet timeless in its appeal.
This renovation was all about balance: old and new, bold and subtle, functional and beautiful. We’re proud to have helped breathe new life into The Old Bar, creating a space that quietly reflects the charm of its setting.
Dysart Cottage, Ireland
Dysart Cottage has been an integral part of our family’s story for generations. Nestled in the heart of the Irish countryside, the cottage carried with it decades of warmth, memories, and timeless character- but time had taken its toll.
In 2021, we set out to breathe new life into the home, carefully renovating it to meet modern standards while preserving everything that made it special.
We repaired and reinforced ageing foundations, roof timbers, and stonework. Original fireplaces, exposed beams, and sash windows were restored by hand, keeping the cottage’s character intact. New insulation and a bespoke kitchen bring the home into the present. The result is a space that feels both rooted and renewed.
May Cottage, Cartmel
May Cottage has been carefully transformed through a considered renovation, turning a traditional village property into an elegant, modern retreat. This project focused on enhancing the structure and layout to deliver greater comfort, functionality, and style—without losing the charm that gives the cottage its character.
Key improvements included the creation of en-suite bathrooms for each bedroom, requiring a reworking of internal spaces to maximise flow and privacy. The courtyard was restored to provide a peaceful, sunlit outdoor area, while the addition of private EV parking brought the property in line with modern sustainable living standards. The home was also adapted to be pet-friendly, ensuring practicality for a range of guests.
Every element was approached with attention to detail- from the placement of fittings to the overall guest experience- resulting in a refined yet relaxed space. Now complete, May Cottage offers a seamless blend of quiet luxury and thoughtful construction, providing the ideal base to enjoy Cartmel’s unique charm and culinary excellence.

Beck Side
This project involved removal of slate from the front and side of the house. We then applied render to give the property a fresh look which protects it from the elements.
